At last....

Tauranga to Auckland was a short and enjoyable flight. It took Colin a little while to get used to being in the air again, but to his credit...he didn't scream too loud!
The trip from Auckland to San Francisco was very bumpy, so much so that they had to delay serving dinner! I had a decent sleep on the 'plane although Colin could not say the same! In fact I don't think he slept at all. His day didn't get any better.
Just as we got to the front of the immigration queue, all their computers went down! We stood around trying to be patient but not succeeding very well. I had put all the food and beer in our hand luggage ready for the agriculture inspection and the bags weighed a ton!

We finally made it out of there with no further problems, and were met at the exit by our hosts Dave and Nancy. They immediately whisked us away to Fisherman's wharf for a stroll around and a 'pre-lunch' snack of shrimp cocktails.

The sounds sights and smells of the wharf took us back to last year when we had been treated to the same experience. Lunch itself was at No 9 Fisherman's Grotto
www.fishermensgrotto.com. and was absolutely beautiful...posh too!
That San Francisco Sour Dough Bread really is something else! It's worth the flight over just for THAT!

We then headed off to the famous...or in our case infamous... Ghirardelli Chocolate outlet, where once again we made pigs of ourselves. Their hot chocolate fudge sundaes have to be experienced to be believed. www.ghirardelli.com Dave bought a huge bag of their famous chocolates for us to eat on the way to Sacramento, just on case we were still hungry! These people REALLY know how to eat!!!

Arrived back at the drag strip around 7.00pm, in time for Colin to help put Dave's dragster back together ready for this weekends meet at Pomona. The rest of the crew were thrilled to have us back and made a big fuss. I unpacked and set up our living quarters. Will post some photos as soon as I can figure it all out.
